The GDC Ballet Academy is our core training program offering specialized, award winning training & mentorship for aspiring ballet dancers of all ages.
Opportunities for Ballet Academy students
Ballet students are offered opportunities to work with renowned guest choreographers, discover self choreography and workshops for health, nutrition and self care for dancers. Ballet Academy students are offered additional opportunities to perform in local and off-coast events.
Many of our Ballet Academy members also compete with the GDC Competition team. Competing is not mandatory for Ballet Academy Members, but is an option for those interested.

Ballet Pro Program
Professional Development Training & Individualized Mentorship
A specialized program offering Professional Development Training & Individualized Mentorship for students ages 8+ who are interested in taking their training to the highest level. Offering guidance and preparation for a professional career in ballet through post secondary.
Vocational Ballet
Requirements
Once dancers reach the vocational levels, a minimum weekly commitment is required to maintain the level requirements to develop and maintain adequate strength for pointe work.
Vocational Ballet students are required to audition, as well as meet eligibility requirements. Auditions are held annually at the end of the current season, in which eligible dancers interested in joining Vocational Ballet the following season are encouraged to participate.
Dancers who meet all requirements will be sent an invitation via email following auditions.

*Inter Foundation students must attend a minimum of 3 classes per week to be eligible for exams. Example: Inter Found x 2 & Rep x 1 a secondary Inter Rep is recommended but not required.

Professional Development Program
Levels
The Professional Development Program (PDP) is designed to mentor young dancers who are looking to accelerate their training or in pursuing a professional career in dance.
PDP students ages 7-19 are offered a well rounded education through this ballet focused program in Ballet, Contemporary, Modern & complimentary syllabi. Industry professionals will lead students through a holistic approach to training by fostering the physical, mental and emotional health of each dancer.
PDP students are offered special opportunities for cultural & artistic development through performance. As well as opportunities to participate in provincial, national & international festivals each season. Royal Academy of Dance ballet & ISTD modern examinations are also encouraged. Student wishing to participate in the Professional Development Program require assessment for placement.

Instructors
Pro Program students will also have opportunities on Pro D days and select weekends through out the season to take part in workshops with Professional Guest Instructors who are leaders in the industry both in Canada and abroad. Workshops will include ballet & contemporary technique classes, dancer self care & nutrition, safety in dance seminars and more.
Examinations
GDC Pro Program will take part in our annual Royal Academy of Dance Examinations. Exams are not mandatory but highly recommended. Exam placement is requested at your instructors discretion. Those interested in taking part in this seasons exam sessions must complete the required amount of weekly classes as well as attend the EXAM INTENSIVE the first 2 weeks of September. Additional weekend practice will also be required in the month prior to your exam. Please speak with the office for more info.
