Pre Comp - Competitive - Elite
Competitive dancing is a rewarding and inspiring experience for young dancers. The process teaches students dedication, coping skills & strategies, responsibility & teamwork, respect, and confidence. Our program is designed to help students realize their potential and inspire them to work towards mastering their skills. Competing on the Coast allows students to meet others from around the country and to have their skills measured against a standard by leading professional in the industry from Canada and beyond.
Competition Team
Levels
Our class levels correspond directly to our competition teams, with each level offering progressively greater opportunities and commitments. If your dancer aspires to join a higher-level team, they should begin training at that level now. Our audition rubric emphasizes attitude, commitment, and growth throughout the season, not promises or aspirations shared during auditions.
Student Expectations
Our dancer code of conduct and responsibilities are designed to help foster a team spirit in all our dancers and keep them accountable to their training and achieving their personal best. In order to keep training time and costs to a minimum for families, we have certain guidelines that allow us to provide the most efficient use of class time while not compromising the optimal results for each dancer involved. Dancers will be accessed for both physical and emotional development when chosen to participate in the GDC competitive team. Some students may be physically ready to compete but not yet emotionally ready, or visa versa. When students fall into this category they are offered apprentice roles in the competitive team which allows them all the benefits of training at a competitive level without having to formally compete until they are ready and it can truly become a positive experience for them. The health and wellness of our students is paramount, and we take both their physical and emotional growth seriously. All competitive students and apprentices will be offered the opportunity to participate in workshops through out the season which will cover topics such as: Nutrition for Dancers, Emotional Regulation & Dance, Team Building, Safety in Dance, and more!
Competition Team Results
This season we participated in 5 different events between the Junior, Intermediate & Senior teams. The team spirit was strong and it was so rewarding to see the whole crew supporting one another, cheering each other on, offering hugs when needed, sharing supplies, snacks and words of encouragement.
Our hope is that every dancer made memories to last a lifetime, learned something about themselves, gained new tools they can apply to everyday life, and was inspired by the other dancers they saw or met.

Fees
All fees posted do not include GST. Prices are subject to change.
Choreography Fees: In-House choreography fees are for GDC weekly instructors. Guest instructors set their own fees and timing rates. The Private Lesson Additional Rehearsal fees are for any dancers who wish to book additional time with their choreographer once they have completed the 7 hours (5 hours private / 2 hours semi private) combined Private and Semi Private Lessons covered in your Solo, Duo or Trio fee. NOTE: For those interested in guest choreographers, please note that they charge more than our in house studio fees for choreography. (Average $600 for 4-5 hours total)
Competition Registration Fees: The 2025-2026 competition fees listed below and are the fees billed directly from the competitions for registration in their events. Please note: One Dance also has a Annual Registration fee of $40 per dancer.
Team Jacket: Every dancer on the competition team requires a team jacket to wear to their events and also for warm up in the cooler months. You can order your team jacket on our Dance Merchandise page.
Costume Fees: Teachers will often reuse costumes from the previous seasons year end recital in an effort to minimize costs to families. There are also sometimes rental costume options.
Admin Fee: The annual admin fee is a one time fee per dancer on the competition team. This fee will help cover the additional admin costs associated with the team, as well as contribute to the costs of travel and accommodations for instructors who attend the events with the team.

Comp Team Admin Fee
Due Date: At the time of class registration.
Details: The registration fee must be paid when you register your child for classes to secure their spot in the class. You can pay this fee directly through your parent portal or by etransfer to: gibsonsdance.office@gmail.com
Choreography Fees – Solos, Duos, Trios
Due Date: Half the fee is due on the first day of choreography. The remainder is due after the first 3 hours is completed.
Details: Payments for solos, duos and trios will be arranged between the dancers and the choreographer. Your choreographer will bill you directly and payment can be made to them via e transfer. If you require the ability to pay via credit card, please contact the office to arrange this option. Credit Card processing fees apply. Email the office to arrange: gibsonsdance.office@gmail.com
Competition Fees
To avoid large lump-sum payments, we distribute competition and convention fees throughout the season, charging them on the following months/dates. If you prefer to pay your total amounts prior to this date you can do so in your parent portal or by e-transfer to: gibsonsdance.office@gmail.com
Any competition fees paid after January 10th are subject to the 10% late fee charged by the competitions.
Costume Orders: Duo and group costumes are ordered through the studio and charged accordingly. Solo costumes are ordered directly by parents and dancers, who are responsible for finding and purchasing their solo costume based on the recommendations of your choreographer. We encourage dancers to re use costumes from group dance in years past or even borrow costumes from other dancers to help keep your overall costs down. The studio also has many affordable rental options for solo costumes. Before placing your order, the costume must be approved by the Director; this is to ensure it meets our standards for professionalism, is age-appropriate, and aligns with what competition judges look for in costumes. If you prefer the studio to order your solos, please arrange this with your instructor.
Exact Fees: We will notify you of the exact competition and convention fees as soon as they are available from the organizers, typically in early fall.
Costume Fees: We keep costume fees to the minimum required and will communicate details, including photos and prices, before placing orders.

Every year, when the season is wrapping up before summer break, students have the opportunity to audition to be a part of our competitive teams for the following year. Whether you are a previous team member looking to compete again next season or this is your first time, we would love to see you at auditions. The competition team offers students who are passionate about dance an opportunity to elevate their skills and challenge themselves in a supportive environment.
